shot dead in Pulwama

A National Conference (NC) Sarpanch was shot dead by some unidentified gunmen,
in the compound of his house, in Kulpora village of Lassipora area in Pulwama
district late. The deceased Sarpanch has been identified as 50-year-old Ghulam
Muhammad Lone, son of Abdul Salam Lone, a Sarpanch of Liddermurdh area. According
to reports, Lone was shot at in the compound of his house at around 8:30 PM,
injuring him critically. “He was immediately rushed to the local hospital, from
where he was referred to Srinagar,” sources said. However, people accompanying
him sensing his deteriorating condition took him to Sub-District Hospital,
Bijbehara, where he succumbed to his injuries. “Police have registered a case
in this regard and a man hunt has been launched in the area to nab the gunmen,”
a senior police official from the area said.
