Kashmiris’ resolve to continue struggle reaffirmed
Srinagar, March 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has reaffirmed the Kashmiris’ resolve to continue the ongoing liberation struggle till it reaches its logical conclusion. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was addressing a meeting of the activists of his party, Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee, at Rajouri Kadal in Srinagar, today. He said that the unparalleled sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and their mission would be accomplished at all costs.
A resolution passed in the meeting urged Pakistan and India to end their confrontation on Kashmir and take steps for resolving the dispute over it in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations under the relevant UN resolutions. It demanded of New Delhi to release all illegally detained Kashmiris and return the body of Muhammad Afzal Guru to his family. The resolution asked the people to follow the programmes of Muttahida Majlis-e-Mushawrat in letter and spirit.
The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement in Srinagar denounced the arrest of Shopian District President of his party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir, Shakir Ahmed Mir, and a youth, Zubair Ahmed. Complete shutdown was observed in Shopian against the arrests. The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is under house arrest in Srinagar, in a statement paid glowing tributes to Kashmiri martyrs including Ashfaq Majeed Wani, Jaleel Ahmed Andrabi, Shabbir Ahmad Sidiqui, and Dr Abdul Ahad Guru, on their martyrdom anniversaries. The JKLF and the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front-R held prayer meetings at Martyrs’ Graveyard Eidgah in Srinagar to eulogise the services of these martyrs for the Kashmir cause. Liberation leader, Javed Ahmed Mir, addressing a separate function at the Martyrs’ Graveyard, said that the sacrifices of martyrs had centre-staged the Kashmir dispute at global level.

APHC leader, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, addressing a meeting of his party activists in Srinagar demanded withdrawal of Indian troops, release of political prisoners and repeal of draconian laws from the occupied territory.

Muttahida Majlis-e-Mushawrat, in a statement after a meeting in Srinagar, today, issued fresh protest calendar for the coming week to press for the demand of the return of mortal remains of Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, to Kashmir from New Delhi’s Tihar jail. The calendar includes protest demonstrations on Friday after Juma prayers and complete shutdown in the territory on Saturday.
