Make comprehensive development plan for Eidgah: Speaker
SRINAGAR: The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mr. Mubarak Gul has directed the officers for preparing a comprehensive beautification plan for developing of Eidgah with a view to restore its heritage glory The Speaker was addressing officers during a review meeting convened to discuss the status of implementation of various developmental programs undertaken by the government for ensuring the development of Eidgah and its adjoining areas at Srinagar. Principal Secretary, Planning and Development Mr. B. R. Sharma, Principal Secretary to CM Mr. B. B. Viyas, Commissioner/Secretary, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Commissioner/Secretary, Public Works Department, Mrs. Tanveer Jehan, Secretary Assembly M. Ramzan, Director Tourism Kashmir Mr. Talat Parvez, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation Dr. G. N. Qasba, Managing Director, JK PCC and other officers attended the meeting.
Mr. Gul directed the officers to ensure that the works executed adjacent Eidgah is completed in a stipulated time frame. He also directed the revenue authorities to remove encroachments, if any, within the shortest possible time. He also asked the Srinagar Municipal Corporation and other agencies to keep close coordination with the executing agency to ensure early completion of the projects undertaken in the areas.
The Speaker also asked for initiating the requisite steps for the renovation and beautification of Alikadal Masjid for which the funds have already been earmarked. He said that Government is initiating the necessary steps for the proper preservation of the historic places which hold a position of great significance in the history of the state
