APKC warns world of nuclear flare-up over Kashmir dispute
Sunday, January 20, 2013 - Islamabad—At All Parties Kashmir conference here Saturday, the leadership of Azad Kashmir and Kashmiri refugees expressed there resolve to continue their support for the people of Indian occupied Kashmir engaged in heroic struggle for liberation. They also renewed their determination for making joint efforts towards the cherished goal of attaining the right of the Kashmiri people to self determination. Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhary Abdul Majeed presided over the All Parties Kashmir conference. Chairman Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman was the chief guest. The conference was convened by president Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, former prime minister of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan.
The conference adopted a resolution highlighting urgency for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people in the framework of UN resolutions on Kashmir which enshrine right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to self determination. It reaffirmed that “UN resolutions on Kashmir are the best roadmap for the solution of this dispute”.

The conference vehemently condemned persistent Indian violations of Cease-fire Line in Jammu and Kashmir and appealed to the UN, other international organization and world leaders to take serious note of the sensitive situation in the nuclearised South Asian region. It welcomed the concern shows by the UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, US and China over the tension on the Cease-fire Line. The Kashmiri leaders warned the world that there was danger of nuclear flare up over the Kashmir issue.
The All Parties Kashmir Conference condemned human rights violations being committed by the Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir and urged the international community to take notice of the situation. The conference stressed the need for trilateral dialogue among India, Pakistan and the true leadership of the Kashmiri people for the resolution of the Kashmir issue. The resolution condemned construction of fencing and bunkers along the Cease-fire Line by the Indian forces.
The conference paid growing tributes to more than 600,000 people of Jammu and Kashmir who laid down their lives against the Indian military aggression in the cause of freedom. It also paid homage to the Armed Forces of Pakistan who also rendered supreme sacrifices for the Kashmir cause and who are steadfastly facing the security challenges posed by India.The conference asked political and religious parties of Pakistan to place Kashmir issue on their priority in their manifestoes in the forthcoming genera elections.
Former prime minister of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Attique Ahmed khan in his welcome address said, India should read the message of impending exit of NATO forces from Afghanistan and realize the fact that New Delhi would not be able to maintain its military occupation of vast area of Jammu and Kashmir against the will of the Kashmiri people.
He said the world powers are trying to bring peace to Afghanistan. They should not ignore the fact that peace in our region was not merely dependent on Afghanistan; it is also linked with the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue. He said, the Kashmiris want solution of the problem through peaceful dialogue but such dialogue process would only be fruitful if the international community was able to play its role. He pointed out that India and Pakistan have never been able to solve any major issue through bilateral talks, whether it was Indus Waters or Rann of Kach. He said, this conference has been convened to give message to India that all political parties of Azad Kashmir are united in their support to Pakistan’s Armed Forces who are fulfilling their security responsibilities on the Cease-fire Line.
The Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed in his presidential address said, Azad Kashmir is the base camp for the struggle of Kashmiri people to exercise their right to self determination and he will continue his efforts to make it more effective. He expressed the confidence that the Kashmiri people would finally succeed in their struggle through their unity and with the support of the Pakistani people and government. He appreciated the historic role being played by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference in Occupied Kashmir for the cause of liberation.

Chairman Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir in his address touched on various aspects of the Kashmir issue and Pakistan’s consistent support for the Kashmiri people in their struggle for liberation from Indian occupation. He said Pakistan will continue its moral and diplomatic support for the struggle of the Kashmiri people.  He said, Pakistan cannot afford granting MFN status to India if that country tries to ruin Pakistan’s economy by blocking waters of rivers flowing from occupied Kashmir into Pakistan. He supported demand of the Kashmiri people that their leadership be included in the dialogue process on Kashmir. He said, all political parties in Pakistan are unanimous regarding right of the Kashmiri people to self determination.
The leaders from Gilgit Baltistan who participated in the conference included Qazi Nisar Ahmed, Qazi Inayat Ullah, Maulana Abdul Aziz Alvi and Malik Muhammad Yasin.
