Home Minister best judge to decide on
'revoking AFSPA'
JAMMU, Dec 13:
In sharp contrast to what National Conference Additional General Secretary Dr. Mustafa Kamaal commented on revocation
of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and calling Union Home Minister
Sushil Kumar Shinde 'ignorant' over the subject, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh
Congress Committee (JKPCC) came out openly in support of Shinde and defended
his statement on AFSPA. Speaking to Early Times, JKPCC Spokesperson and
Member Legislative Council (MLC) Ravinder Sharma said that it does not matter
who is saying and reacting to the timing of revoking AFSPA from the state, it
is the Home Minister who is the best judge to make a decision on this crucial
issue. "I do not know what sort of reaction is emanating over Shinde's
statement; however, I am of the opinion that Union Home Minister is the most
appropriate authority in the country to make a judgment on this sensitive
issue. Nobody else knows and understand the situation better than Shinde,"
Sharma said adding that AFSPA is not an issue to call for any public debate
