With a population of about 30 lakhs, people belonging to Pahari community have revolted against the coalition partners-and-have-threatened-that-they-will-show-their-resentment-through-their-vote.
In an emergent meeting held at Rajouri recently, Jammu & Kashmir Pahari Peoples Movement (JKPPM) and Pahari action Committee, has blown the bigule of rebellion against Congress and NC and the Movement has decided to teach the lesson to them in the coming Parliament/ assembly elections. In the convention, it was decided to launch mass people contact in order to defeat the coalition partners in the assembly elections. Ashwani Datta Secretary said that some politicians who pose themselves as pahari leaders have damaged and made both the Forum and Advisory Board defunct for their vested and political interest. Chief Executive of the Movement, Shahbaz Khan said that State and Central government is provoking them to start community war in the region and if it happened it will take ugly turn. Not only at state level even then President of India APJ Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi during their visits to Uri to meet with the earthquake victims had assured the people that their demand of STstatus will be considered.
